HD Benchmarks
Here I collect different times of copy operations for different hard drives.
2014-02-23 - 2x rotating USB 3
- data volume: 253.4 GB
- Duration: 33 Min
- Number of files: 2
- Disk Source: WD My Book External Hard Disk 2TB (8.9 cm (3.5 inch), USB 3.0) black
- Disk Target: WD1000DHTZ Velociraptor 1TB internal
- Interface: Source -> USB 3.0 -> Target
- Result: 253.4 GB / 33 min = 131 MB/s
- Remark: This is quite fast for spinning disks. Resulting on the one hand from the fast target disk and of course it is only two files, which can be written sequentially.
2014-02-23 - 2x rotating over GBit LAN and USB 3
- data volume: 253.4 GB
- Duration: 3h (2 GB in 88 sec)
- Number of files: 2
- Disk Source: WD1000DHTZ Velociraptor 1TB internal
- Disk Destination: WD My Book external hard disk 2TB (8.9 cm (3.5 inches), USB 3.0 black
- Interface: Source -> GB Ethernet ->QNAP TS-219PII USB 3.0 -> Target (Mount via SMB)
- Result: 253.4 GB / 3h = 24 MB/s
- Remark: Pretty bad yield. Here on USB 3.0 could also be and an old USB 2 disk can be used. The Target disk is mounted via SMB. I suspect the largest Loss of performance.
2014-02-23 - QNAP to SSD
- data volume: 19.84 GB
- Duration: 10 min
- Number of files: 1
- Disk source: 2xWD30EFRX Red 3TB internal in theQNAP TS-219PII
- Disk Target: Samsung 840 Pro internal
- Interface: Source -> GB Ethernet -> Target
- Protocol: SMB
- Result: 19.84 GB / 10 min = 34 MB/s
- Remark: That’s disastrous.
2014-02-23 - QNAP to SSD (2)
- data volume: 19.84 GB
- Duration: 5 min
- Number of files: 1
- Disk source: 2xWD30EFRX Red 3TB internal in theQNAP TS-219PII
- Disk Target: Samsung 840 Pro internal
- Interface: Source -> GB Ethernet -> Target
- Protocol: SMB
- Result: 19.84 GB / 5 min = 68 MB/s
- Remark: Better. But is that all? (file /etc/nsmb.conf created).
2014-02-23 - SSD (830) to SSD (840)
- data volume: 19.84 GB
- duration: 46 sec
- Number of files: 1
- Disk Source: Samsung 830 internal
- Disk Target: Samsung 840 Pro internal
- Interface: Source -> SATA -> Destination
- Protocol: SATA
- result: 19.84 GB / 46 sec = 442 MB/s
- Remark: This is very good.
2014-02-23 - SSD to QNAP
- data volume: 19.84 GB
- Duration: 8 Min
- Number of files: 1
- Disk Source: Samsung 840 Pro internal
- Disk Target: 2xWD30EFRX Red 3TB internal in theQNAP TS-219PII
- Interface: Source -> GB Ethernet -> Target
- Protocol: SMB
- Result: 19.84 GB / 8 min = 42 MB/s
- Remark: How much should the QNAP do in Raid 1?
